7 PARTY HAIRSTYLES, to try for the Festive Season.

It's Christmas/Party/Festive season once again. Neil, Tim and Jarnelle from the team have curated 7 in-house looks for you all to be inspired by.

1. The Luxe Knot: Hair up is always a go to for party hair, but a lot of people want to do something more contemporary instead of the traditional French Pleats or Chignons.

Neil recently styled Maya Jama’s hair for a Harper’s Bazaar X Tiffany event, the look caused a bit of stir as it was a complete departure from Maya’s regular look. She has since repeated a similar look in Morocco at the Fashion Trust Arabia event in Marrakech.

How-To: Firstly, Neil smoothed out Maya’s curly hair all back away from her face, then tied it into a low ponytail above the hairline, ( leaving space for the headband). He then created an intricate knot with the ponytail, with the use of elastic, and finished the look off with a wide headband.

Products used were Pureology Color Fanatic 21 Spray for heat protection and detangling, some Sam Mcknight Happy Endings Cream for smoothing and some L'oreal Infinitive Hair Spray to finish off the look.

The black cashmere wide headband is from &Other Stories, and the white elastic is from Amazon,

2. The Gloss Bob: Shorter bobs have been very popular as of late, and for the party season it’s always great to style it in a different way, to make an outfit look as sharp as possible. What better way than to mix the style with a glossy sleek finish which is also very popular this season.

How-To: Blow dry your bob away from your face with the parting being whichever side you prefer. Get some lift in the roots around the front hairline with a large round brush. Once dry, take a finishing serum or cream and apply a generous amount all the way through the hair. Use a comb or a flat bristle brush to style in place. For extra shine, add a hair oil and secure in place with a mist of hairspray.

3. The Half Halo: The half halo is a great way to convey a soft angelic appearance. The effect resembles a subtle halo effect which involves pulling the top section of the hair back, creating 2 cornrow braids and securing it in a way that mimics the appearance of a halo or a crown. You can either leave some soft face framing pieces to enhance the facial features or take them away completely. The texture can be sleek for a more modern look or textured for a more bohemian vibe.

This hairstyle is perfect for showcasing the beauty of both an updo and the flow of loose hair.

How-To: Part hair down the middle to just below the crown. Cornrow braid the hair - one braid on each side. Join the 2 braids together just below the crown and tie with an elastic. Create a little knot if you want to make it look more finished or add a bow for a real party vibe. For textured hair add some Sam Mcknight Cool Girl Barely There Texture before braiding and then some afterwards through the remaining length. On smooth hair, smooth the hair out first before braiding and then use some Sam Mcknight Love Me Do Oil through the areas where you will braid.

4. The Chic Braided Duo: This style is perfect for textured or curly hair. With corn-row braids being so popular right now, this is a great way to show off the beauty of braids but add sophistication to a classic pigtail style.

How-To: Cornrow braid the top of the hair in whichever braiding pattern you choose, with the braids ending up in the nape of the neck into 2 ponytails. Secure with elastics on both sides and then style out the remaining hair into your natural curls. For shorter hair, add in some extra curly hair to create pigtails, remembering to match the extra hair to your natural hair colour..

5. The Hive Lift Pony: This is the perfect retro look re-imagined. A modern take on the classic beehive, blending retro volume with a contemporary texture and finished with a ponytail.

How-To: Make sure your hair is completely dry and, if clean, prep with some volume mousse first. Using a texture spray and back combing, create volume on the crown, and exaggerate the height for maximum effect. Pin this hair into a beehive shape, either leaving out some softness around the front hairline or taking it all away from the face. The crown area should then transition into a smooth, sleek, low or mid-level ponytail. The ponytail can be straight or wavy depending on the desired finish.

6. Style Savvy Accessories: If you don’t have time to style your hair before going out, you can always accessorize.

How-To: Make a simple up do, or ponytail look stylish and party ready by adding a ribbon, oversized bow or hair pin.

Tie your hair up into a simple updo like a chignon or twist then add an accessory. The look will transform into the perfect party hair in seconds.

Accessories used in image are from &Other Stories, Claires Accessories and Old Spitalfields Market

7. The Effortless Edge: This is a combination of sleekness and a relaxed, effortless style to give a stylish twist on the classic slick-back hair. It’s also a great alternative for those who like the idea of slicking their hair back but feel a little bare with all their hair taken away.

How-To: First smooth all your hair out using a heat protection spray and a smoothing serum if needed. Part your hair in the middle or on the side if you prefer not to slick it all back. Pull out a few loose strands around the hairline (especially around the parting area if you’ve created a parting). Now with a flat bristle brush, smooth the rest of your hair into a low chignon. Secure the chignon with pins and grips and then use some hair oil or smoothing cream and run over the surface of the hair to give some extra sheen. With loose pieces, let them flow freely without product.
