Here's some recent examples of work from the Neil Moodie Team ( images taken from the studios Instagram account)... so you know what to ask for:
Key trends for 2024
1.Birkin Bangs and beautiful waves, Hair by our Art Director, Elpis Tampakadis
The Birkin bang ( or fringe as we like to say in the UK) is a soft style fringe that creates a lived-in cool girl look without looking too done up.
Why are they becoming popular we hear you ask?
Soft girl era is in, says Molly Newell one of the NMS styling team. We’re loving effortless feel to hair right now. Jane Birkin was the 1st to brace us with this chic French girl style now modernised by Suki Waterhouse as she’s been rocking this look for a few years. Some of you may recall Neil Styled Suki's hair for a Burberry Perfume campaign.
Ph: John Balsom for Burberry Brit campaign
When going into the salon you’ll want to ask for a soft outgrown looking fringe, that skims your eyes lids.
Face shapes and hair texture all come into play with the Birkin bang. If you have a longer face shape and straighter hair this is a fabulous way to create shape around the face and give the hair body. Depending on your curl/wave pattern and the way your hair falls, you may be able to achieve this look but may have to tweak it but it can definitely be created in a similar way.
2.Always beautiful, natural textures and curls, haircut and styling by our Creative Director, Valentina Ingrosso
The focus in 2024 is on healthy, natural hair. Say goodbye to over-processed locks and lengthy waits between haircuts. It's all about self-love—whether through a significant cut, returning to your natural roots, or embracing your curls, the clean, natural look is here to stay. There are many products on the market these days too, but it's important to use the correct ones. Our team recommend the following: : Loreal Curl Expression range - ideal for curly caucasian hair, (available to buy at NMS), Boucleme products that are specifically for curls and coils. Also in the NMS studio we use TGIN products ( which btw means 'Thank God It's Natural) These are great for more coily, type 4 hair.
3.Add a wash of colour, from blonde to pastel peach, Colour and Finish by our Stylist / Colourist Francesca Spirito
Peach and Rosé tones are cropping up a lot more and are expected to be seen in the early part of Spring 2024- bringing some colour and fun to the warmer months. They're perfect colours to create on blonde clients ( as demonstrated, in the image where Francesca added a hint of warmth and vibrancy with a colour from the Pulp Riot range which we stock and use in the studio) but it was still pretty non-committal. It’s also an easier and less damaging way to change your hair colour and to see if you want to do it on a more permanent scale.
